River Kings began as a way to preserve the memories of a group of good friends' outdoor ventures. While that is still a priority, It has grown into an venue for chronicling outdoor activity to educate and inspire others to better enjoy everything outdoors...Enjoy!

DIY Boom Mount for Whitewater Kayaks / GoPro Mounting Option
I often like to mix in several different angles of the action while capturing our adventures. One of the most enjoyable views is the stern boom. Looking for a better option than the one I was previously using, I came upon this design. Here is the DIY Boom Mount build that I recently did. Save some money and build one for yourself! I present the Boommaster5000! LOL

Tahkeeosteh is a Cherokee name for part of the French Broad. It translates into "where they race." Adventure Awaits: Unforgettable Kayak Camping Experience
Way to go Dan. I'm working my way to being maxed out with what I can do on my sit on top and starting to plan for the next step and watching and listening to this was what I needed. Looks like a great time!
It's just a bomb!!!Thanks for the great solution!
Nice job! Very Thorough. Thx.
This was SO helpful! Do you offer lessons or clinics?
Binged watched knowing Surprise was the Coup de gras (sp?).
Best video I’ve watched this year. Game-changer. Lets me keep other things organized as well, rather than having a spaghetti-blob of strapping getting in the way of everything else.
Love you are bringing up your boy on these rivers. Wish I'd had that early start. Would love to paddle with you guys sometime!
What dagger boat are you paddling there? I'm an old boater I like edges but I also like floating down the river. The machn0 paddles like a boat to me but I really don't like half slices either any suggestions. Paddle mostly Southeast class 2 3
Unfortunately only way to watch your videos are on mute...
Bro, your videos are amazing! My wife and I love them! We're are brand new to the sport. We live in New England. We would be honored to travel out there and learn under you!
I think that's the first time I've seen you ! Great run and thanks for sharing.
If you are looking for a good water proof radio, I would recommend the motorola h20. I grabbed a couple for my wife and I and they have great range, plus they will float and light up if they do hit the water. I am pretty sure that part of being a good kayaker is having a good playlist, I'm taking notes here!
Another great video Pete, I was just thinking about trying the "charging arc" at the LVWWC this Saturday, as i was just finishing up editing my video when i noticed a good wave to try it on, I've only ever done it at a small weir so i need to get out of my confart zone, seeing you guys doing it has encouraged me more, as a side not, I have been trying the ferry glide with as little strokes as possible, i can get it down to 2, sometimes lol, keep up the good work, aka Bashy2.0 :)
Another great trip log! What time of year was this paddle and is there a better time you might recommend? Thanks Pete
Just picked up the katana 10.4. What size spray skirt will I need? Thanks
Some day pfd Wilson!
Just got back back from a week long trip and hubs wants an easier wat to load 3 yaks ! So happy I found this video.
Catching tiny eddies is my favorite thing to do, especially in quicker moving water. Definitely pushing myself on surfing and working holes. Im "looking forward" to getting my first beat down, just to get it over with lol.
Nice to see Squib... have fun !
So... Watch River Kings Channel and learn how to build Captain Hooks hand ?! 🤨😳😬 Or is it Captain Pete then ?! You are all set for Halloween !!! LOL! 🤣
Дебильненький смешок
TERRIBLE THE MUSIC IN THE VIDEO TERRIBLE
My goal as I just got into kayaking this year is to go to WOR in 2025. I didn't know Pete spoke spanish :)
Nice boom
I wonder what a stern squirt would look like with that on?🤔
I tried to make one using pvc, thinking it would bend instead of breaking. Unfortunately, pvc isn't stiff enough to hold an action camera lol. Definitely going to be making one of these. Thank you for sharing pete!
Safe travels! I know the feeling although I’ve gotten lately where I don’t like driving more than an hour for a boat… Which is why I made my stepson go on a six hour round-trip drive to go get a mad river canoe for me a couple months ago lol… I did pay him for his time at least 😂 Well can’t wait to see this boat, Pete!
Nice video Pete, good mix of solid advice and sense. in a calm manner. Looks like a nice river for mere mortals rather than the terrorizing water you see on some videos. Great work, keep it up !
Cool build!
Been almost 18 years since I've done section 4. Your videos are great. Thanks for the memories.
Say hi to Woody next time you see him
OG paddler from the Perception days. did something wish I had done many years ago. GGs
Sorry I missed it! Love DIY stuff. This one leaves me with a question though. Why did you build this one differently than the one on Nana? Just to build it (I would do it for the sake of doing it too!) or does it give an advantage over the Ram Mount on Nana?
So much good information in your videos. I literally had a panic attack just watching Bonnie (I think was her name) flip over. I honestly have zero interest in paddling rapids, but I am trying to be prepared for unexpected things I may encounter on a river. Thank you for making these!
Does James have a channel too?
Hey Pete, great video! I'll have to give that a try. I'm experimenting with different mounts and cameras (should probably make the videos to prove it) and I was wondering if you've tried using 360 camera with that mount. I bet it would give you some great footage. Out of idle curiosity, does that mount pose any danger with preventing a roll in a sort of shallow situation or is it so short that you wouldn't be able to roll anyway? I dont yet have the skills to do white water, I am just wondering. I saw you rolling in the beginning of the video, so it looks like theres no interference for a normal situation. Keep up the great work!
Cool idea cheers Pete
Thanks AKM!
@@RiverKingsKayak what if you install a spring in the top half incase you roll or it gets hit? Or like a tension spring on some tent poles etc.
Nice video Pete! I was waiting for this one... can't wait to make my own camera mount! Thanks for sharing!
Right on!
Well Done. Thank you!
Thanks Brandon!
This is gold Pete. What would you say the total cost of materials was?
Probably about $35
Great work Pete. Enjoyed that build. Good idea been wondering how I could make my own camera mount. But I will steal yours if you don’t mind.
Thats the idea! Thanks!
Cool, thanks for sharing. The boom mount is contected to the grab bar similar to a spigot insulatation box that uses the spigot as an anchor (you tighten it so that it is tight to the house - similar to tightening the hook on a kayak)
Indeed!!
